At BELingual, we believe that learning another language should be an opportunity that as many children as possible can enjoy.

We don't want financial circumstances to be a barrier to taking part in a French club.

That's why every BELingual school French club includes one fully funded place for a pupil eligible for Pupil Premium, subject to availability.

The place is completely free of charge to the family, with BELingual covering the cost of the club place.

We can work with the school to agree the most appropriate way to allocate the place, while treating families and children with care and discretion. Because every child deserves the opportunity to discover another language.

French clubs should be fun — but they should also have a purpose. Our sessions combine enjoyable, age-appropriate activities with structured language learning. Children might:

Children regularly revisit language they have already learned while gradually developing their vocabulary, pronunciation, confidence and ability to communicate. So the club isn't simply a collection of unrelated French activities.

Children are building real language skills week by week.

  The programme can be adapted to the age and starting point of the group.

The content can also complement the French children are already learning in school.

Children don't all arrive with the same French experience. Some may already have French lessons during the school day. Others may be completely new to the language.

That's absolutely fine.

BELingual's teaching is designed to meet children at their starting point and help them progress together. We use repetition, retrieval and carefully structured activities so children can build confidence gradually. Children don't need to be "good at languages" to join. They simply need to be willing to have a go.

We want every child to experience the confidence that comes from thinking:

A pathway beyond primary school

BELingual's primary provision connects naturally with our wider French teaching, supporting children as they progress from their first French experiences through KS1 and KS2 and onwards towards KS3 and GCSE.

We are delighted to be starting our school partnership programme with Jordans School, where BELingual is delivering an after-school French club on Tuesdays.

This is an exciting new step for BELingual — bringing our approach to French teaching directly into local schools and giving more children the opportunity to discover and enjoy another language.

We are now looking to build partnerships with more primary schools across the local area.

What age groups can BELingual teach?

We provide French learning for primary-aged children, with sessions adapted to the age, experience and needs of each group.

Do you offer after-school French clubs?

Yes. After-school clubs are one of the main ways we can bring French learning into a school setting. We are currently delivering a Tuesday after-school French club at Jordans School.

Can you offer lunchtime French?

Yes. We can discuss lunchtime provision depending on your school's timetable, available space and the age of the pupils.

What does the school need to do?

The school provides a suitable classroom or teaching space, agrees the day and time with BELingual, and shares our French club information with families.

Who handles the administration?

BELingual handles the teaching and administration associated with the club, including parent registration, payments and communication with participating families.

How do parents enrol?

BELingual provides a flyer containing the information families need. Parents then register directly with BELingual.

Does the school collect payment?

No. Parents pay BELingual directly.

Is there a funded Pupil Premium place?

Yes. We offer one fully funded place per school French club for a pupil eligible for Pupil Premium, subject to availability.

Does the family have to pay for the funded place?

No. The funded place is free of charge to the family, with BELingual covering the cost of the club place.

Can children join if they have never learned French before?

Absolutely. Children can join without any previous French experience. Activities and language are adapted to the group.

Can BELingual complement our existing French teaching?

Yes. Our provision can be used as enrichment, an after-school or lunchtime club, or to complement existing MFL provision.

Where does BELingual provide school French?

BELingual is based in Old Amersham and is developing partnerships with schools across Amersham, Chesham, Beaconsfield and surrounding Buckinghamshire communities.
