🧏‍♀️ British Sign Language (BSL) at BELingual

Years ago, my world changed when my son lost his hearing. I knew instantly that I needed to find a way to break down communication barriers for him. I took action, immersed myself in the language, and passed my BSL Level 2 certification so we could always communicate fully. As the Founder of BELingual and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Representative for ASDA, language and true inclusion sit at the centre of my life.

While my signing journey started at home, my vision for this hub is for absolutely everyone. Whether you are a parent supporting a loved one, a retail or restaurant worker who wants to know a few basic signs to welcome a Deaf customer, a professional expanding your skills, or just curious about learning, you belong here. I wanted to open up our warm home base at BELingual to create a central space where our entire local community can come together to learn, connect, and break down barriers.

• Vocal-Friendly Format: A warm space where you can talk, sign, and ask questions. We use different tables so beginners can use voice, while advanced signers can challenge themselves silently whenever they feel ready.
• A Safe, Judgment-Free Space: An informal circle focused purely on mutual support, connection, and visual practice—not rigid lectures.

We do not have a fixed day or time locked in just yet. Because the Practice Circle is built by the community for the community, we want to hear from you first so we can pick a time that works best for everyone. To make this as accessible as possible for busy families, workers, and students, we are looking closely at hosting these sessions on Saturdays.
